About Us

The Intravitreal Expert Group (IVEG), a panel of top-tier international vitreoretinal surgeons, was founded in May 2012 with the aim of improving patient care by addressing areas of unmet need for guidance and education in the field of intravitreal intervention. The IVEG members’ biographies demonstrate the wealth of experience shared by this group of professionals aligned in their mission to promote and provide best practice recommendations to raise the standard of care.

Paolo Lanzetta

Paolo Lanzetta is professor and chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Udine, Italy, and founder and scientific director of the European Institute of Ocular Microsurgery (IEMO), Udine, Italy.

Varun Chaudhary

Dr. Chaudhary is Professor of Surgery and Chief of Ophthalmology at McMaster University. He is an Associate Member at McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering and McMaster Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence & Impact.

Gemmy Cheung

Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School, National University of Singapore, and Head of the Medical Retina Department, Singapore National Eye Center. Gemmy Cheung heads the Retina Research Group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

Jean-François KOROBELNIK is Professor of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital, Bordeaux since 1999, head of the Ophthalmology Department since May 2013.

Professor of Ophthalmology, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Sidney Fox Chair of Ophthalmology at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University, and the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Tel Aviv Medical Center.

Jordi Monés

Jordi Monés is director of the Macula and Retina Institute, Barcelona; founder and director of the Barcelona Macula Foundation: Research for Vision; and coordinator of the Ophthalmology Department at the Teknon Medical Centre in Barcelona.
