S. Natarajan

Sundaram Natarajan is Chairman and Managing Director of the Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital in Mumbai, as well as visiting professor at Balaji Medical College and Saveetha Medical University in Chennai, India, Marmoindes University, Argentina and ESASO University of Lugano, Switzerland. Over last 36 years, he has performed over 60,000 vitreoretinal surgeries and has trained more than 68 vitreoretinal surgeons across the globe. He is also the founder of the Aditya Jyot Foundation for Twinkling Little Eyes, which runs outreach programs in rural areas and urban slums, striving to provide quality eye care for the underprivileged. In the past fifteen years, the Foundation has held several hundreds of diabetic retinopathy camps, screening over 70,000 people, as well as school screening programs for over 60,000 children. It has provided free care to 200,000 households and to over 1 million people in slums, and free surgery to over 5000 people.
Prof. Natarajan has served as President of world-renowned scientific societies, including the All India Ophthalmological Society, has been conferred many prestigious awards, including Padma Shri one of the highest civilian awards in the Republic of India, and is Charter Inductee of the Retina Hall of Fame.
