Sebastian Wolf is professor of ophthalmology, director and chair of the Department of Ophthalmology, Inselspital, University of Bern, Switzerland. He received a PhD for biotechnical engineering from RWTH Aachen, Germany, where he subsequently attended medical school. His main areas of scientific interest are age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, imaging and vitreoretinal surgery.

Professor Wolf has authored over 170 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including OphthalmologyArchives of OphthalmologyAmerican Journal of OphthalmologyInvestigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (IOVS)Diabetes Care, and Hypertension. He serves on the editorial board of various scientific journals including IOVS, Ophthalmologica, European Journal of Ophthalmology, and Graefes Archives. As well as being a speaker at numerous national and international meetings, he has been appointed as an ARVO Gold Fellow and elected General Secretary of EURETINA.
