Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital is a chain of 82 eye hospitals in India with headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In this video, Ashar Agarwal, MD, a young member of the family and a retina specialist, gives a detailed update on the COVID situation and eye care in the country. Access to care has been heavily limited by travel restriction, and even in the current 4th phase of loosened lockdown restriction, about 50% to 60% of patients are not able to reach the hospitals. However, the hospital staff has been proactive in reaching patients by telephone contact, and even organizing transportation to pick them up from distant locations.
